While current figures do not definitively validate Zhang’s perspective on AI life cycles, they do imply that frontier labs like Anthropic are not currently in distress due to the rise of open source models. One possible reason for this resilience is the rapidly expanding market for AI-capable tasks, enabling leading models to secure their status through early-stage project domination.
