Developers Seek to Automate Boring Tasks
Developers have a natural aversion to repetitive tasks, and the field of programming is a testament to their efforts to automate mundane activities in technology creation. This ambition is exemplified by “vibe coding,” showcasing how technology can minimize the work needed to build products.
With this mindset, it’s no surprise that Naïve, a startup providing infrastructure for AI agents to handle much of the workload in operating a business, attracted over 30,000 developer customers within months of its inception.
Automation Made Simple
Naïve claims its infrastructure can streamline the entire process of establishing and running a business, given that users provide the appropriate AI agents and token budget. The company offers a streamlined API that encompasses various components, including payment processing, email accounts, phone numbers, cloud infrastructure, storage, and business incorporation.
Developers can use prompts to interact with tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex, enabling them to connect to Naïve’s API and provision necessary infrastructure. The process includes orchestrating the creation of a U.S. LLC, where users provide specific details like state, industry code, business description, and proposed business names. However, users still need to engage in KYC (Know Your Customer) and KYB (Know Your Business) processes, alongside making required payments.
Comprehensive AI Solutions
Beyond business formation, AI agents can manage additional aspects of setup such as creating email inboxes, virtual cards, databases, computing resources, and service connections—including popular platforms like Stripe and QuickBooks. The governance layer serves to help users control budgets, limit agent capabilities, and demand human approval before sensitive actions are executed.
Additionally, Naïve supplies various business templates, ranging from AI-powered SEO tools to full-stack SaaS applications, recruitment, accounting, customer support, and even a mobile emulator to facilitate the operation of smartphone apps.
This robust offering has resonated with users, reflected in the impressive 10-fold increase in annual run-rate revenue—now reaching low double-digit millions within just six months, as noted by CEO and co-founder Sean Dorje.
Significant Funding Milestone
In light of this traction, Naïve successfully raised $28.5 million in a Series A funding round, led by Nexus Venture Partners, bringing the total capital raised to approximately $32 million.
According to Dorje, Naïve’s infrastructure is enabling its customers to establish autonomous businesses, including AI automation agencies and “faceless” content channels on platforms like TikTok and YouTube. For instance, one case involved a TikTok account generating AI-created videos featuring dancing and boxing animals.
“A rapidly growing sector is AI automation agencies,” Dorje shared, emphasizing that many first-time business owners start by offering agents to other smaller businesses. For example, some customers operate rental car agencies autonomously using Naïve’s infrastructure.
Addressing the Cost of Automation
While the appeal of automation is undeniable, the associated costs can become burdensome, especially as businesses scale. Running AI agents requires high expenditures since they access costly AI models and utilize significant resources, particularly when idle.
To mitigate these costs, Naïve is allocating part of its new capital to enhance efficiency within its agent loops. The company is focusing on developing several core infrastructure components, including:
- Model Router: An advanced system that directs queries to the most efficient AI model based on task requirements.
- Memory System: This stores relevant business context, aiding agents in performing their tasks effectively.
- Orchestrator: A solution for distributing tasks among agents to optimize workflow.
In addition, Naïve is creating a serverless runtime that allows agents to operate within lightweight JavaScript environments rather than assigning individual virtual machines. This model promotes cost efficiency, enabling clients to pay primarily for active agents and reducing expenses when deploying numerous agents.
Growing Demand for Optimization
While the toolkit for managing autonomous companies leads current demands, optimizing inference costs is emerging as a fast-growing area of interest. “As the largest cost line in running autonomous companies, inference and serverless agents are our highest-growing demand,” Dorje noted.
Moreover, Naïve is attracting attention from enterprise customers, indicating its infrastructure could hold promise beyond just helping founders handle administrative tasks. As businesses expand, the capacity for Naïve to significantly reduce the ongoing costs of operating multiple agents will become crucial for sustained growth.
Future Developments and Team Expansion
As of now, Naïve employs ten full-time staff members, and the Series A funding will be directed toward expanding the research team and advancing its key infrastructure initiatives: virtualized sandboxes for agents, model routing and inference optimization, comprehensive memory systems, and governance and orchestration layers.
Investors such as Y Combinator, Zetta, Liquid 2, as well as notable angels like Gokul Rajaram and former HubSpot COO JD Sherman, have also joined in the Series A round, endorsing the startup’s vision and potential.
Conclusion
The landscape for developers is rapidly evolving, thanks to innovations like Naïve that minimize the drudgery often associated with running a business. With an increasing number of users and substantial funding backing its ambitious projects, Naïve is well-positioned to redefine how businesses utilize AI agents. As it continues to develop its infrastructure, the company stands at the forefront of a transformative wave in the entrepreneur and developer community. For anyone looking to automate and optimize business processes, Naïve presents an enticing solution worth exploring.
