Open Call for Innovative AI Solutions

Google.org is calling all game-changers to participate in its exciting new venture – the 2025 Google.org Accelerator: Generative AI. This thrilling $30 million global initiative seeks bright minds and groundbreaking solutions that harness the power of generative AI for societal good. The clock is ticking as applications close by February 10, 2025, so it’s time to shine!

Generative AI has shown enormous potential in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges. With bold strides, it’s contributing towards achieving all 17 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, not all organizations have the privilege or resources to tap into these opportunities.

A survey conducted by Google for Nonprofits in 2024 revealed that while a whopping four out of five nonprofits see generative AI as relevant to their missions, nearly half are still in the dark. The hurdles they face include a lack of awareness, training, resources, and most importantly, funding.

To tackle these obstacles, Google.org has been proactive. The inaugural Generative AI Accelerator in 2024 successfully brought together 21 organizations. Their mission? To build AI-powered solutions with the potential to impact over 30 million people by 2028.

These AI heroes spanned various sectors, from combating youth unemployment to empowering individuals amid humanitarian crises. One standout was Tabiya, which developed Compass, a conversational agent using generative AI to tackle youth unemployment, specifically in low- and middle-income countries. Their aim is to double the number of job seekers each career counselor can reach.

Then there’s Materiom, which accelerated the development of sustainable plastic alternatives with their phenomenal use of AI to discover new substitutes faster than ever. Their work exemplifies scientific advancement, focusing on reducing reliance on petroleum-based products.

The International Rescue Committee took on global humanitarian crises with their project, SignpostAI. Using AI, they provide personalized information in multiple languages, aiming to reach half of the displaced population over the next five years.

With such impactful initiatives, Google.org is now broadening its horizon. It’s opening the door to more nonprofits, civic entities, academic institutions, and social enterprises equipped with social impact solutions. The next cohort will dive deep into a six-month accelerator packed with training, Google Cloud credits, and pro-bono support from Google employees.

Participants will be treated to a slice of the $30 million funding pie, empowering them to bring their innovative ideas to life. This is not just a chance to grow but to truly impact the world across three areas: Knowledge, Skills, and Learning; Scientific Advancement; and Resilient Communities.
