OpenAI’s Latest AI Revolutionizes Mathematics Beyond Current Understanding

OpenAI Just Broke Math With Its Most Powerful AI Yet

  1. Just another day of OpenAI plagiarizing prompts written by mathematicians without their awareness or approval to solve problems as if the models did it from scratch.

  2. I love AI and am excited I am alive to see this unfold. I am 73 and grew up reading Heinlein, Asamov and many others of that genre. Then there was Star Trek and 2001. What facinates me, is that the writers, who are only limited by their imagination were not able to keep with history or the future. At least in the area of robotics.
My hope for a long life is just to see where this takes us. We are in a transformation time.

  3. Crazy, A.I. took the work they did and brute forced the next rung on the ladder, when a machine can do 100 years of Human progress in 1hr we have no idea what we are going to get from them when they can do 300 years worth in 2 minutes but they are doing it on the backs of our best and brightest right now but soon they will just start climbing over themselves and the world will be vastly different.

  4. These mathematicians are severely disappointing me. They need to shut the hell up and just check the results, how AI gets the results is not important, what's important is that we can stop wasting time on problems that are solvable with AI.

  5. I really do not care what method solves problems.
I just want all these efforts to go towards making the cost of living as close to zero as possible for once.
But rich people want us poor, miserable and easy to manipulate, and Capitalism guarantees the majority of humanity are stuck financially struggling.

  6. The one job completely safe from AI? A Catholic priest. An AI can easily write and deliver a Christian sermon, but it can never administer the Sacrament of Confession.

This sets up a wild theological irony. To embrace AI efficiency, some churches might have to dilute the core Reformation principle that 'Only God can forgive sins' unmediated. If this trend continues, AI might achieve what centuries of ecumenical dialogue couldn’t: bringing Catholics and Protestants back together."

  7. Richard Dawkins said, "The intelligence of Homo sapiens is optimized for catching antelopes and gathering vines on the savanna." I agree with him. While we have managed to reach the level of an electromagnetic civilization through a combination of chance, specialization, collective intelligence (parallel processing) and the accumulation of knowledge, we seem incapable of actually managing it. News about the Brazilian presidential election is making headlines lately; Brazil simply represents the most glaring example of these issues. The situation is much the same in the U.S., where voters are forced to choose between the Republican and Democratic parties based on which is the "lesser evil."

Personally, I do not care at all whether AI solves this problem or decides that humanity is merely a bottleneck or an obstacle to be eliminated. I would prefer the former, but if the latter happens, I would accept it as paying the price we deserve.

  8. Homo sapiens began with carbon, evolved into a water-filled, rootless carbon-based form that gave rise to civilization, yet—unable to control itself—it ceaselessly burns carbon despite foreseeing the outcome; this generates excess carbon that heats the atmosphere and evaporates groundwater, ultimately leading to a return to carbon. LOL
